LNG supporters, opponents battle it out with buttons in Astoria.

Wearing red shirts and small white buttons with the acronym LNG crossed out, dozens of opponents of a proposed “bi-directional” liquefied natural gas terminal in Warrenton were greeted at an informational open house this week by project staffers with their own decorative baubles: Large green buttons stating that LNG is good for business.

There was a clearly visible juxtaposition of viewpoints concerning the controversial and long-developing project on display at Tuesday’s open house. And at the center of it all was Peter Hansen, chief executive officer of the company behind the project, Oregon LNG, and project consultants from CH2M Hill.
