The Environmental Protection Agency dished out the funds to Oregon, the cities of Eugene, Troutdale and Vernonia and the Northeast Oregon Economic Development District as part of the agency’s brownfields grants program. The funding could help perk up former industrial sites.
Business Oregon, which is the state’s economic development agency, will get $700,000 for a loan fund. The city of Eugene will receive a $680,200 grant that will help it assess future clean-up sites with leaders from Springfield and Lane County.
