Seventeen properties once controlled by Salem-based Sunwest Management are part of a real estate auction this month.

Sunwest’s collection of related companies once controlled a vast real estate empire, but the enterprise collapsed amid cash-flow problems and fraud allegations.

Tiffany Jones, a Salem real estate agent who is working with a holding company that is disposing of Sunwest’s former property, said the properties going to auction are among the last in the portfolio. Last spring, the portfolio consisted of 34 properties in 12 states, she said.
