With the improved economy, Metro is considering revisiting the possibility of a headquarters hotel.
Metro Council is expected to vote on a resolution that would authorize staffers to issue a request for proposals for development of a hotel, with at least 500 rooms, adjacent to and in support of the Oregon Convention Center.
In 2008, after nearly six years of planning, budgeting, designing and re-budgeting for a $247.5 million hotel that would have been paid for with city-backed construction bonds and operated by Westin Hotels, the proposal fizzled.
