The Princeton Review named Oregon State University as one of the 16 most environmentally responsible colleges.

OSU was among the schools to score the highest in the ranking — the 16 schools each scored a 99 — which considered sustainability factors such as food sourcing, transportation, green buildings, opportunities to focus on the environment and sustainability in student studies and energy efficiency.

In addition to its curriculum, OSU was recognized for a solar hot water system being installed in its student recreation center and the fact that it’s been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency for its leadership in purchasing green power offsets. Strong recycling and a waste-diversion rate of about 52 percent added to its score.
