Near-record rainfall is affecting spring sales at local nurseries.

The weather isn’t affecting the quality or availability of plants, according to Tony Vanhoutin of Farmington Gardens in Beaverton. It is affecting the number of customers, who are apparently staying home instead of braving the wind and rain to pick up plants.

“It definitely puts us behind in season. Hopefully we’ll make up for it when the sun does come out,” said Vanhoutin. “We have all the plants in place just in case we get a nice break in weather. We’re prepared, we’re ready, we have all the plants here. Just need to get the weather so people will come in.”
