Craft Brew Alliance reported fourth-quarter profits were up, despite the continuing slump of its Widmer Brothers signature Hefeweizen.

Craft Brew Alliance reported fourth-quarter profits were up, despite the continuing slump of its Widmer Brothers signature Hefeweizen.

Shipments grew 11 percent to 672,600 barrels for the year as its wholesale and contract brewing sales grew. Revenue from its pubs also increased. 

But shipments of Widmer Bros. beers fell for the second consecutive year as its Hefeweizen came up against increasing competition from wheat beers from large, multinational brewers, the company said.
