Like Getaround, which officially rolled into the Portland area commuting market two weeks ago with the help of a federal grant, RelayRides allows auto owners to rent out their rides to neighbors or complete strangers while they sit idle.
Car owners signed up for the service make on average $250 per month, with some earning up to $1,000, while providing a service to neighbors or complete strangers who don’t own a vehicle, the company said.
“Since the day we first launched in Boston, we have received thousands of requests to expand into more communities,” said RelayRides founder Shelby Clark. “Today, we are thrilled to be able to finally meet this demand.”
