Chuck Eggert, one of the New Seasons Market founders, retired from the grocer’s board and sold back his shares.

Eggert, 63, plans to serve as a consultant for the next three years, assisting with issues he’s always been involved with, including the company’s growth and the regional food economy, said New Seasons CEO Lisa Sedlar. Eggert also will continue to operate his food and beverage production company, Pacific Natural Foods, based in Tualatin.

Eggert’s departure comes as New Seasons has been tugged into a political debate surrounding mayoral candidate Eileen Brady’s involvement in the grocer’s creation. Brady is married to Brian Rohter, another New Seasons co-founder, and has touted her behind-the-scenes role.
