Fallout from the closure of Typhoon restaurants is continuing, with its former COO filing for bankruptcy protection.
Richard L. Anderson personally loaned the restaurant chain $750,000 during his 4 1/2-year tenure, according to the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Portland. Anderson alleges Tigard-based Typhoon is insolvent and owes money to the Internal Revenue Service.
“He had loaned money to them, and he doesn’t expect to get any of it back,” said Anderson’s attorney, Kenneth Tolliver. Anderson filed the voluntary petition as a precautionary measure to protect himself from Typhoon’s creditors, Tolliver said. Anderson left Typhoon in December 2010, the filing says.
