Intel ranks in first place for green power purchasing according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
According to data collected by the EPA, Intel used 2.5 billion kilowatt hours of solar and wind power last year, a combination of on-site generation and purchases of green power through a third party. In all, 88 percent of Intel’s energy needs were met by green power.
In addition, the EPA found that Oregon State University ranked No. 4 in the nation for green power usage among colleges and universities, getting 100 percent of its energy needs met either by on-site generation or renewable energy credits purchased through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. OSU used 95 million kilowatt hours of green power last year.
