Oregon Iron Works gets $8.7 million to produce two streetcars for Washington D.C.
Oregon Iron Works struck a $8.7 million deal to produce two 144-passenger streetcars for Washington D.C.
United Streetcar LLC, a subsidiary of Oregon Iron Works Inc., won the deal to design, test, manufacture and deliver two streetcar vehicles plus parts. The contract is now before the D.C. Council and will be deemed approved Dec. 18, unless a member of the council moves to disapprove it.
Under the new contract, each streetcar will cost $3.7 million. The remainder, about $1.3 million, covers parts, testing, delivery, insurance and other items.
