According to the National Center for Education Statistics, average public university tuition and fees for in-state undergrads for 2008-09, the most recent school year available, was $6,319 nationally, versus $6,286 in Oregon, $5,704 in Washington and $5,254 in California. In Oregon, OSU’s Cascades campus in Bend has raised fees the lowest amount, only 71% over the decade, but Southern Oregon University in Ashland remained the cheapest at $6,120 for 2010-11, followed by Oregon Institute of Technology at $6,639 in Klamath Falls, and La Grande’s Eastern Oregon University at $6,789. Western Oregon University in Monmouth increased its fees the most, 103%, but is still more affordable than UO.
