Business joins child-care effort


Nonprofits and private businesses in Seaside are working to make child care convenient.

Seaside families will soon be able to find child care easily, if a plan by local nonprofits and private businesses is successful.

An intricate plan that would combine transit, child care, the South County Food Bank and private businesses into one facility in or near downtown Seaside is beginning to gather steam after several years of simmering on the back burner.

The effort is being spearheaded by Cindy Howe, executive director of the Sunset Empire Transportation District, and Mary Blake, director of the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District and board member for the South County Food Bank.
