Reedsport — Looking for an edge in your golf game this summer? David Edel may be able to help. From his workshop in Reedsport, Edel crafts custom-made putters with a system he claims will result in a 63% improvement in a player’s putting game. Edel, who presented the findings of his research at a recent MIT symposium called Better Golfing Through Technology, has been in the putter business since 1996. He’s made custom putters for the likes of John Elway, Prince Andrew and, closer to home, Columbia Sportswear CEO Tim Boyle. He says most of his orders come from outside of Oregon. “People don’t treasure what they have in their local region.”
