After a 14-year effort to build The Bunkers at Tillamook Bay, a $65 million, 130-room hotel, 800-person conference center and 18-hole golf resort, Jack Crider, port manager of the Port of Tillamook Bay, expects to receive final construction permits for the project this spring. BCRA architects of Tacoma, Wash., designed the project to capture the 1940s World War II theme by using the remaining concrete bunkers left behind from the Tillamook U.S. Naval Station as entertainment spots. John Harbottle III, designer of the award-winning Olympic Course at Gold Mountain in Bremerton, Wash., will design the golf course.
