GRESHAM — Cricket Wireless, the wireless phone service that debuted in Oregon in December, became the inaugural customer for a Gresham startup that makes custom NASCAR-styled vehicles for companies that want to promote their brands on the road.
Two of the street-legal cars were commissioned by Affordable Cellular, a Cricket dealer, which will use the flashy green machines for marketing as the company adds to its portfolio of stores in Portland and the Willamette Valley.
NASCRAFT Custom lays claim to being the first company to harness the racing allure for business customers. Co-founder Darrell Ketch, a guy who wanted to weld his love of hot rods to his business background, says the advertising vehicles are the real deal with genuine NASCAR parts and will carry a price tag of $45,000 or more.
