Lane Powell attorney Jeremy Babener has been appointed as chair of the Legal Committee for the Society of Settlement Planners (“SSP”), a national nonprofit education and public policy association of settlement planners who assist injured claimants in the settlement process.
Babener’s extensive knowledge in taxation law and former involvement with the SSP will be helpful in his new position as legal committee chair. He has been actively involved with the SSP for the past few years, speaking at each of the SSP’s last three annual conferences, discussing the tax treatment of settlement payments, the use of structured settlements and qualified settlements, and other litigation-related tax considerations.
