Four months after federal and state subsidies stopped, SeaPort Airlines announced it will stop flying out of Newport and halt twice-daily service from Salem.

SeaPort CEO Rob McKinney blamed market trends and high fuel costs. 

SeaPort began flying out of Astoria and Newport to Portland in March 2009, bolstered by $4.5 million in government subsidies that spanned two years. The air service discontinued the flights out of Astoria in March when the subsidies ran out, but continued trying to make the service viable in Newport.
