Collaborative Life Sciences Building moves forward

Portland State University, Oregon Health & Science University and Oregon State University learned this week they have the money they need to begin construction on the $190 million Collaborative Life Sciences Building.

The project sold $110 million in bonds, which it will have in the bank by May 19 so it can begin designing the seven-to-eight story, 250,000-square-foot building, said Lindsay Desrochers, vice president for finance at Portland State University. The universities will break ground on the project in October with plans to have it complete and ready for classes by fall of 2013.

“We’ve never done anything in the state quite like this,” Desrochers said.
