Cabela’s first Oregon store is opening in Springfield’s Gateway Mall today, and is expected to draw thousands of visitors.

…The company has said it expects to draw customers from a broad area, from Portland on down to Northern California, from the coast to east of the Cascades.

But don’t expect to see a giant pair of scissors. After speeches from Springfield Mayor Christine Lundberg, Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer Tommy Millner and other special guests, Cameron Hanes, an Oregon native and the host of Outdoor Channel’s “Elk Chronicles,” will ceremoniously open the store by shooting a ribbon at the door with a bow and arrow.
