SolarCity of San Mateo, California started a solar-array leasing program that they say brings the option of solar panels to the masses.

The company has installed over 7,000 systems in 5 years.

Wall Street investors have plugged $700 million into the company to pay the upfront cost of placing thousands of additional solar power systems on rooftops, including in Eugene.

“With ‘SolarLease,’ you can pay as you go, so people in all different sorts of economic situations have the opportunity,” said Rob La­Vigne, SolarCity’s regional director for Oregon.
