This summer, six Portland-area Fred Meyer stores will add electric vehicle charging stations in a partnership with Ecotality.
The move brings charging stations to places where folks might already make regular trips. But it may be less a matter of fill ‘er up. The planned stations are Level 2 chargers, meaning they take longer to provide full charges than the second-generation Level 3 stations.
“Our customers have been clear that they want to take advantage of the emerging electric car market,” said Michael Ellis, president of Fred Meyer Stores. “We’ve been doing business in the Northwest for more than 85 years and are proud to be part of such a progressive and sustainable community.”
