A federal judge signed an order finally closing the Sunwest Management Inc. Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The debacle generated massive volumes of paperwork for the 100-plus lawyers involved.

Salem-based Sunwest built a nationwide chain of senior living homes. The business was based on a collection of hundreds of limited liability companies. Sunwest’s business unraveled amid financial and legal problems in fall 2008.

The bankruptcy case alone generated 1,937 court documents.

Meanwhile, more than 100 attorneys were involved with untangling Sunwest’s problems.
