The 100 Best Green Workplaces list uses results from two surveys that went to companies and nonprofits last year: the 2023 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon and the 2024 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon.
Employees who fill out these surveys are asked to rate their satisfaction with — and the importance they attach to — the organization’s green mission and goals. Other questions address specific practices like recycling, waste reduction and support for alternative practices.
Employers offer information about their companies’ sustainability policies as well as how they measure compliance. The employer portion of the survey also includes questions about specific day-to-day practices like water conservation and selecting vendors with sustainable business practices.
