Portland startup ShopIgniter hopes to capitalize on the popularity of social networking by linking retailers’ e-commerce systems to Facebook and other sites.
“You want to make a purchase decision based on someone you know,” said [Matt] Compton, a former Yahoo vice president who became ShopIgniter’s chief executive in March.
With $3 million in venture backing last winter, ShopIgniter has ballooned from nine employees to 19. It plans to add as many as a half-dozen more by year’s end and recently moved to new quarters in Portland’s Pearl District to accommodate the growth.
