Rural landowners earn up to $10M for wind power


The American Wind Energy Association reports commercial property owners receive between $5 million and $10 million a year for wind power generation.

The AWEA’s website shows Oregon with about 3,153 megawatts of installed wind capacity. Much of that comes from wind farms in Eastern rural Oregon and along the Columbia River.

Across the country, wind farms now pay $222 million to “farming families and other rural landowners” each year, according to the AWEA.
