The 2010 Lane County Fair this August will be shortened by one day, and main stage entertainment will be free with the cost of admission.

The move will cut costs for both the Fair organizers and fairgoers.

At fair manager Rick Reno’s recommendation, the fair board voted unanimously earlier this year to cut the six-day event by one day and include in the price of fair admission each day’s main-stage music concert. This year’s lineup includes hard rocker Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and bands that imitate classic-rock groups Aerosmith and AC/DC.

In the past, fairgoers who wanted to see main-stage shows paid ticket prices of $20 to $40 per show, which included fair admission for that day. Reno said the savings from reducing fair operations by one day will offset the loss of revenue from those shows and will allow the fair to include the concerts with the fair admission, which remains $9 per adult per day this year.
