Green Zebra will open a store in downtown Portland.

The mini-grocer will occupy the ground-level of a parking garage in the Portland State University area.

The store will offer local produce, a deli, a salad bar, grab-and-go items, beer and wine, everyday grocery items, a coffee and tea bar, fresh meat and seafood and kombucha on tap and in to-go bottles.

Green Zebra hopes to open the store mid-2016. It will employ 40 to 50 people, and the grocer will prioritize qualified student applicants. Open positions and a job fair date will be announced in early 2016.

In a statement, Kevin Reynolds, PSU’s vice president for Finance and Administration, said the store would be “a much-needed addition to the growing south end of downtown.”

The store will occupy 4,200 square feet.

“We are beyond excited to bring healthy and delicious groceries and prepared meals to the Portland State Campus,” [Green Zebra founder] Sedlar said in the release. “As the first full-service natural grocery in downtown Portland, we can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and serve the Portland State community, the downtown workforce, and the residents of inner Southwest Portland.”
