The Dalles-based PowderPure recently wrapped up a $5.8 million fundraising round, and is planning “rapid expansion and growth.”

The company already has more than 70 employees that turn fresh fruits and vegetables into powders.

The powders, which are used by food manufacturers to flavor beverages, prepared foods, baked goods and snacks, fully retain their nutrition, flavor, aroma and color. They’re certified as organic and Kosher.

The company was spawned after processes for drying the goods that make the powders were discovered in 2000. It took several years to create the first commercial batch.
