SEATTLE TIMES: Amazon surpassed analysts’ 2nd-quarter projects with a $92 million profit, when many believed the company would log losses.

Its stock soared in after-hours trading, climbing more than 17 percent, or $82.38, to $564.56. The company’s shares had already been trading at all-time highs this week in anticipation of solid results.

Amazon earned 19 cents a share on $23.18 billion in sales.
