Oregon bankruptcy filings fell 15% for the year ending in March 2013, and business filings plummeted 28%. Oregon had the fewest filings per 1,000 population — 3.7 among all its neighboring states — but was about even with the U.S. overall. Within the state, Central Oregon remained hardest hit by insolvency with a rate of 6.2 per 1,000 people in Deschutes and high rates in Crook and Jefferson counties. Suburban Portland counties of Columbia, Clackamas, Yamhill and Washington were also among the top 10 and had higher rates of business bankruptcies.
