Fast-growing Portland company Jive Software is moving to Palo Alto, a blow to Portland’s high-tech aspirations.
Jive Software has moved its headquarters to Palo Alto officially this week, having already transferred most of its executive leadership to the Silicon Valley.
The company says it will retain all 150 employees in its Portland office, but needs to change locations to raise its profile in the technology industry.
“It’s definitely a loss for the city and the region,” said Skip Newberry, economic adviser to Mayor Sam Adams.
However, Newberry said the pieces are coming together to make Portland a better long-term home to fast-growing companies like Jive. “We’ve got a lot of momentum around what we’re trying to do here,” he said.
