The synopsis for the film is “a mind-bending thriller set in Portland, Oregon about an unspoken tragedy and its effects on a house, the temporary caretakers and  owners… The film features an estranged couple, Alan and Sarah, whose personal tragedy looms mysteriously over their home and temporary house sitters Tim, Kelly and Jesse (played by RJ Mitte, Lindsey Haun and Blake Berris).”

Written and directed by award-winning Portland-based filmmaker Michael Bartlett, the film was shot over the course of five weeks in the fall of 2010. The movie is currently making the rounds of the festival circuit, and the release date is pending. So far many of the reviews are favorable. The film was produced by Jon Manning, a long-time Portland producer/director.

During production, officials with House of Last Things stated the company “is also excited to announce that it has been accepted into the ‘Indigenous’ Oregon Production Investment Fund through the Oregon Film Office. We are producing this film 100% in the Portland metropolitan area with the majority of our cast and crew from Oregon. And therefore, look forward to a significant percentage of our goods and services being rebatable.”

From Oregon Film And TV Dollars:

“We choose Portland because the setting for the actual story was always written as Portland,” Manning says. “We’re also using the Willamette Valley vineyard areas to double as Italy – as that plays in the script and certainly we couldn’t take any part of the production to Europe.”

No word yet if the film features criminal lawyers, DEA agents or any former meth houses.
