KOIN: A squirrel is responsible for a power outage that is affecting more than 9,000 Multnomah County PGE customers.

According to a PGE spokesperson, the latest power outage occurred at about 7:40 a.m. Monday after a squirrel got into a substation near Southeast Sherman Street and 174th Avenue.

According to PGE’s website, 9,134 Multnomah County customers were without electricity as of 9:15 a.m. About 7,000 of those were in the Southeast Portland area, and 1,200 in Gresham.
