Google maps finally arrives for iPhone

PCMag: Apple’s maps have been widely scorned as inferior after it dumped Google maps from its phones. Now after much clamoring, users can get a Google map app.

The new Google Maps app is available for the iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.1 and higher, in more than 40 countries and 29 languages, including Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish, Google said.

Google’s Maps aren’t perfect, but they’re a whole lot better than what Apple offered. And that’s a good thing: Apple can pull back, revamp them, improve the location data, and relaunch in the future, challenging Google to get better.
