The public transportation system for Portland said the expansion in service aided bus-usage in the fall quarter.

Overall, ridership on both jumped by 3.2 percent over the same quarter in 2013. TriMet said the jumps stem from service increases, according to the transit agency. TriMet has added more trips to several frequent service lines over the past year.

Trips on the 12 TriMet frequent service lines comprises more than half of all bus ridership. Overall, bus rider numbers jumped by 6.3 percent in the quarter.
