Warm weather thaws economy


Unseasonably warm weather in Central Oregon is helping local business pick up.

Above-normal temperatures may be the reason some Central Oregon businesses are seeing more customers than usual for this time of year.

While winter-related businesses say they wouldn’t mind more snow, others are faring noticeably better than last year.

Jade Brown-Godfrey, bar manager at Greg’s Grill, said she thinks the economy is on the upswing and the warm weather is contributing to it.

“People are spending money a little bit more than they did last year,” Brown-Godfrey said. “The bar business has been great here. The weekends have been hopping all over the restaurant. We’re looking at a lot of margaritas going out when the sun comes out, but when it’s cold we do notice a little decline in business.”
