The California-based shoe company’s Portland store marks its third U.S. location.

Toms spokeswoman Emily Tschirhart said the retailer hopes the new store will serve as more than just a place to buy its “one-for-one” shoes and sunglasses. The goal, she said, is for the store to serve as a community hub and offer free Toms coffee and Wi-Fi to customers as well as those simply looking for a place to hang out.

The California-based shoe company began opening its standalone retail locations in 2012 with a store in Los Angeles, and opened a second location in Austin in March. The Portland store is the only Pacific Northwest location Toms plans to open at this time, Tschirhart said.
