Portland favors small businesses despite lower wages

According to a recent poll, most residents support government incentives for small businesses over large ones. On the other hand, the poll also found that most residents are concerned about not having enough family wage jobs in their communities.

According to the poll, 83 percent of Portland and Salem respondents are concerned about having enough family jobs. Only 14 percent were not concerned about there being enough of them.

But the same poll found that 62 percent believe the development priority should be on creating small, locally-owned businesses. Only 31 percent said the focus should be on larger businesses.
