The tech company won a patent infringement suit against its rival, Synopsys.

Both Mentor and Synopsys make electronic design automation software, tools that engineers use to design semiconductors and other sophisticated electronics.

Each company had alleged the other had violated various patents. Synopsys said four of Mentor’s patents were dismissed from the case before trial, and that the one that remained related to emulation technology, which EDA companies use to predict the performance of products in real-world environments.
