The free software development training program has already gathered 6,000 applicants.

The program is a partnership between Worksource, the Oregon Workforce Investment Board, and Portland-based Treehouse, an online training platform that teach software developing languages.

The program was announced in June and the two organizations are working out the logistics of setting up training spaces in Worksource centers. Once that’s complete, a formal marketing campaign is planned, said Treehouse CEO Ryan Carson.
