The chipmaker introduced new versions of its Xeon processor which aim to make data centers more flexible.

The Xeon E5 V3 outperforms the prior model on a number of different benchmarks, said Diane Bryant, the head of Intel’s server business, at an event today in San Francisco. It’s also more power-efficient and connects with higher-performance memory, she said.

In addition to the 32 versions of the new model Intel is offering, the company has produced 20 other variations specifically tailored for individual customers, Bryant said.
