Nashville-based SESAC purchased the Portland company, which developed a platform for musicians to micro-license music for use on websites. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Portland company will continue to run as an independent subsidiary of SESAC and current CEO Paul Anthony Troiano will continue in his role. He will now report to SESAC chairman and CEO John Josephson.

Rumblefish has more than 5 million copyrights in its portfolio and issues more than 50,000 micro-licenses a day. The capital infusion from SESAC is expected to help Rumblefish increase its micro-licensing offerings, boost its YouTube monetization and license verification work and grow its platform.
