SoloPower Systems’ main private backer, Hudson Clean Energy Partners, is leading a “substantial” funding round to restart production in Portland.
It is unclear how large of a stake Hudson Clean Energy now has in SoloPower, but it is significant and stretches back to 2008, when SoloPower was first starting up in San Jose, Calif.
But SoloPower couldn’t overcome early financial and production hurdles. It shuttered the factory in June 2013, only months after opening.
