Due to recent acquisitions, the Hillsboro-based microscope maker will consolidate some of its plants worldwide.
FEI said it will consolidate three Australian sites in Canberra; close a facility in Delmont, Pennsylvania and relocate operations to a new facility in the Czech Republic; and relocate a Japanese demonstration facility to an existing facility in Shanghai, China.
A company spokesman said there will be minimal impact on the Hillsboro operation, where FEI employs about 500. The company employs about 2,500 worldwide.
