The chipmaker’s vice president Uday Marty was one of the six mountain climbers declared missing after a fall on Mount Rainier.

Marty joined Intel in 1996 as a design engineer in the company’s offices in Arizona and held successive positions there. He said he led building the company’s first netbooks and was “responsible for Intel’s business interests in South East Asia across multiple market segments.”

Last week’s climb was led by Alpine Ascents International, a Seattle-based guiding company. The two guides and their four clients last made contact on Wednesday, and did not return from their expedition Friday as planned. Authorities have not determined what caused their fall, but believe all six are buried under snow or rock.
