The company exceeded visual emission limits at its plywood mill.

On Jan. 29, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality staff conducted an inspection and observed visible emissions that averaged 51 percent opacity. Opacity is important as it is an indicator of particulate matter emission levels.

Particulate matter that exceeds allowable limits can contribute to respiratory distress and can cause decreased lung function, heart problems and chronic bronchitis.
