The Hillsboro-based tech company, awaiting a merger, projected a 16% increase in second-quarter revenue.

One of Oregon’s largest technology companies, TriQuint has about 900 employees at its Hillsboro headquarters and factories. It makes computer chips used in smartphones and communications networks.

TriQuint has struggled to deliver consistent results and is laboring with unused manufacturing capacity. The company announced last winter that it will merge with RF Micro Devices, consolidating operations to cut costs and highlight each company’s strengths.
