The Grahams have been working with holiday trees for nearly a quarter of a century. On any given day during the busy season they employ 50 people at the Wilco site, from which some 130,000 trees will be loaded onto semi trucks and launched onto nearby Highway 22 to deliver a piece of Christmas to far flung locales.
Graham said an acre produces about 1,700 trees, each requiring 7 to 9 years to mature appropriately. The harvesting process normally cuts about 25 percent of the trees in a given acre, depending on the overall grade and quality of the trees.
